POPHAM HARBOR

Popham Harbor, Maine, is known for its murder rate, much like its fictional cousin Cabot Cove. It even has a crime-solving, best-selling mystery author, Daniel MacDougal, who together with his wife Vivian, the town's medical examiner, has solved the weekly murders that have occurred over the last forty years.

George MacDougal, their daughter, is a respected assistant medical examiner. Only natural for a woman who grew up listening to murder cases while loading the dishwasher. Now thirty-seven, she lives in the city, where she relishes the variety of deaths and the anonymity it offers. However, when Vivian is discovered dead in the family home, and Daniel is the only other person there, George returns to Popham and has to wrestle with the one thing she's gone numb to — motive.
